MEET THE INSTRUCTORS
Combat Elements is based around the foundation of the four elements.
Wind, Water, Earth, and Fire. These coinside with the four major principles
that make self-defense work. Movement (move like the wind), Flow (flow like
water), Balance (unbalance the earth), Trauma (create trauma with fire).
The fifth element is what I think of as Ketsugo. It is the combining, coming
together, and binding of these martial elements. Ketsugo was originally a
combining of martial arts systems, aka, Jujutsu, Judo, Aikido, Karate, Boxing,
Savate, Fu Jow Pai Kung Fu, and Arnis. This can be considered combative
MMA, as it focuses on combatives instead of sport. Athough some of the
above martial arts listed are considered sport, the combat application is
emphasised. In combining the principles, instead of the systems, Peter
emphasised why and how things worked which led to me noticing the
simularities in systems, and not focusing on the differences. I really liked
and took to this philosophy as it changed my perpective on life in general.
Combat Elements not only emphasises the combining of martial principles,
but the combining of life principles and order to free the mind from self
made boxes we put ourselves in. Boxes and differences do have a purpose
and are important, though I believe our minds naturally do this, so the mind
needs to be trained to see how the big picture goes together.
Ketsugo brings everything together.
