RICO BLAIR

My journey into Ketsugo Jujutsu started with Freedman Sensei in the summer of 1995. After a 20 minute call that went on for about 3 hours I knew this was the logical step to take. Many hot days were spent in the dojo with some of the greatest, kindest, and interesting people I have had the pleasure of meeting and training with.

While the physical distance increased after all these decades, the journey continues.

I have had the pleasure to share knowledge with people on the path in a few different countries.

Each session revealing new layers of depth. Currently, I’m focusing on refining the basics, footwork, aiming for a fluidity that feels almost effortless, as well as the flow state concepts of “Kazushi.”

Subtle shifts in one’s stance, both mental and physical, remain critical teachings.

My practice now emphasizes the mental aspect, cultivating a calm focus amidst the chaos of combat and self-preservation.

Alongside helping “regular beginners” learn and create, I’ve begun teaching private students, tailoring lessons to their individual needs and goals. The experience of guiding others continues to deepen my own understanding and appreciation for the intricacies of the martial arts, specifically Ketsugo.
